Excessive site fees

Just returned from Chester Fair Oaks site, one night, £31.30 !!, I nearly choked on my dentures, It was our first trip out this year, only able to book something last minute.Ok, apparently, our over night stay was classed as still in  the 'High' season, but £31.30 per night (two adults) to stay in my own caravan is ridiculous. The club is in danger of  killing the goose that layed the golden egg. it's easy sometimes to forget that we have also paid a membership fee for the privilege of being charged so much.

I have friends who go nowhere but Club sites. They grumble about the prices but carry on.  Although I suggest alternatives to them their loyalty is deep and profound. I think there are many people like them.

Its strange, those who are most vociferous anti commercial sites are those that have not tried them

Write your comments here...you must have known the price before you arrived it on your conformation so how it can be a shock is beyond me, I do agree that it is high thats why this year we are not staying at the Looe site in Cornwall for 2 week which would have cost us over 400 pounds but are staying at a family run site we have used on and off for the past 26 years. One reason is our sons are grown up and we no longer need the pool etc which is on the looe site. This said its a fantastic site for families and we have had wonderful holidays there. you pays you money and makes your choice. We will pay about 200 pounds at westwayland and have just as good a holiday

Many of us have tried them, though and found you get either a very good experience or a very bad one - no middle way. So the "middle way" that the CC and C&CC sites provide is preferable. And for us , with the 2 dogs included in the price and rarely staying on any one site for a week or more, so not able to take up special offers, they work out at a reasonable price! Happy. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

that just about sums it all up moulesy, for some folk the commercials will suit their holiday ways and needs better whilst others will prefer our club and its preferred ways of operating.  Doesn't make sence to me to 'reduce' all providers to the 'same common denominator' and thus then lessening choice and preferences. Maintaining variety and difference makes so much sense to me. I have and do choose from both when I need too but on the whole the club certainly suits my needs and preferences better.

Interesting, Moulesy that you don't get very good service from CC sites......even though they charge top dollar.....

As has been said by a lot more people than the "knockers"when chosing cc or ccc sites in the majority of circumstances,it is a known good quality product  that can stand up to the majority of competion, as is noted in the majority of sites at peak periods, both clubs seem to be investing, where possible ,in their sites some of which have been on the networks far longer than probably any posters on here, and i am sure its very difficult for either club to juggle the available money into which site gets this years investment with over 300 sites between them, but as we know the few who actually post on here saying that the clubs are getting to expensive, has not reached the real world members

Interesting that you say that CC sites are a 'known good quality product' JVB.....and yet you have posted on the Clumber Park thread about the declining standards and the poorly maintained site Undecided

Well, you could just as easily have interpreted what I wrote as " you can be sure not to get very bad service from CC sites, even though they don't charge high rates", Ian.

They definitely don't charge top dollar when we use them, and as I said, we don't stay long enough on one site to get any special rates! Happy

Must be very uncomfortable sat on that fence, Moulesy.

Why not get off there and have an opinion?
