Covid 19 and membership

As all sites and CC approved sites have been suspended for 3 months (30th June) are we to expect the CMHC to suspend all memberships for 3 months.? My membership is due in July so I'm a bit loathed to not be able to use it and go anywhere only to be hit with a renewal as the suspension is lifted.

Have to admit we've stopped our DD due at the end of the month.

We were debating it then got the email imploring us to keep the membership going but not offering anything back as incentive to do so. Really must do better!

Sorry, but we don't pay for things we can't use! (No, we're not Scottish or from Yorkshire)

At least the C&CC are extending the membership period to help cover the period of lockdown.

I understand where you're coming from, DaveCyn - ours is due at the end of May and I'm thinking about stopping the DD too, depending on the situation nearer the time.  I realise many (most?) on these forums are hugely loyal to the Club, and I totally understand that position.

But as someone who is not a massive fan of Club sites (my main reason for membership is to access the CL network), I just don't have that degree of loyalty.

The C&CC are clearly saying that memberships will be extended to cover the period of site closures, and I think many will be looking to see if the CAMC do something similar.  I certainly don't envy those who have to make these decisions, let's just keep our fingers crossed that things return to near-normal as soon as they possibly can.

The club e-mail seams to be like a beggin letter please don't leave so we can charge more for hard working members at the weekend  and school  holidays  i.e. £27 3nights £46 rest of holiday on the same pitch if it was a club for members as stated  make the price same all year round my membership  May not get renewed

I think you may think loyalty when for me it’s convenience.  When in the U.K. we mainly use CL’s and if we use club sites they are normally without a facilities block.  We use the clubs insurance for both travel and for our van as it gives us what we want.  We mainly book our ferry’s through the club as for us they are generally cheaper than others.  Every year we check prices with others but usually stick with the club.
If that’s loyalty in your book, fine, but in my book it’s common sense

I think these times are hard for all of us and for some it is harder than others. I can understand FB's position, every little helps. Good luck to him and others like him in such a dire position. In the same circumstance I would do the same.

A better stance by the Club would be to allow members in need to apply for a membership free holiday for the duration of closed services.

Or as English Heritage have done, automatically apply the 3 months on renewal, unless you opt out. Whilst my pension continues to be paid, I realise it isn't the same for everyone and every little helps. Good luck to FB.

Then you need to apply to your bank/mortgage company for the freeze that the government says needs to be done. My son has just done this and applied for the furlough as well.

+1, over the last few days I’ve had my bank send me 2 emails offering card payment holidays & overdraft of £500 charge free. Similar from Building Socs if not now then eventually all should do the same. I wish you well(fb)👍🏻

Due to the head in the sand attitude over closing sites and encouraging the idiots,we as a family will not be renewing membership. Our money is going to the private sector and to the cl's the club has booted out and the ones that left voluntary.

This thread and what other organisations have done with "extending" memberships ,for three months could possibly be a bit premature?  , No one yet knows when it will be safe enough to use any organisations facilities    ,it may well be beyond the estimated 3months ?undecided

Some are still expecting the lock down to end on Mondaysurprised

Hooker, I understand your stance entirely. The club acted with appalling irresponsibility early on and issued incorrect guidance on the definition of non-essential travel.
