At least they are trying

I have just read a review on a cc site in the West Midlands where the wardens have put up a" name& shame"board,as they are having trouble with speeding .I know this as I have recently returned from said site. The poster of the review has put that they think it's,and I quote "a bit pathetic" .That to me is an insult to the wardens,as they are at least attempting a positive reaction to an ongoing problem .Any views on this? .Rant over .

As I have imtimated before I have just not seen the problem, it is usually people holding me up Wink.>>>  It seems to be a very small problem being made out to be a major one.  <<<

Have to agree with you DD, think you have it right....Cool

I have to say, I've seen a few dashing round, but I don't see it as the major problem that some do.

All the more reason why the warden staff just need to have a word with the few idiots.

Quick Poll, is it the motorhome driver or the caravaners who are more likely to speed in your opinion?

In my experience its mainly solo cars comeing and going on site.

The biggest risk on site is people verses traffic and as wardens we try to get speed limits reduced for obvious reasons. However, the onus is on the members to help us maintain the speed limits by driving carefully. We do have a quiet word with excessive speeders when spotted but like I quoted in a previous post they slow down once the see us. Also, upon arrival at this site, members are asked to stay in 1st gear if a manual or select low gear if an auto while on site. However, after a few days on site the speed creeps up again..

Write your comments here... Mark, you would know better than anyone here , do you think that the road layout on some sites inadvertently contributes to the problem of speeding?.

Anything that publicises this issue is a good thing, including the said "name and shame board", so well done to the Wardens concered. One thing that always strikes me about this issue is that people always expect the Wardens to do something about it. Should we all not be doing something about it as we are all members of the same club rather than just expecting the Wardens to deal with it? If you see someone blatantly breaking this rule on site, mention it to the offender. If everyone did this, surely the perpetrators would soon get the message that it is unacceptable? It would be good to hear a Warden's opinion on this though, as I can appreciate that they may not like this approach as it could lead to confrontations all over the site...!!

Unacceptable! More likely the complainant would be told he's a *************. ************ing ******** and to ***************, if such a contortion is actually possible. Does anyone here seriously think that "advising" someone who is driving at 10mph would result in anything other than abuse? "Interfering busybody" would be a mild admonition. BTW our diesel ticks over in 1st at 8mph. We could try reverse I suppose. While the sentiment of a 5mph rule is good, it's a bit too slow to enforce as rigorously as some here would encourage.

Our diesel according to Sat nav in first on tickover is doing 4.8mph and most people acknowledge that a" slow down"said when others are in the versinity is normally enough or to persistent abusers "what part of 5mph do you not understand"

Min ticks over just about 4mph on satnav so that is the speed I do. Speedo will give a higher reading i many cases. If it ticked over at say 7mph then that would be the speed that I would do also. I wouldn't want to slip the clutch all the way round.

The warden at York Rowntree told a driver to slow down while we were there this weekend......seemed to do the trick better than writing his reg number on a blackboard.
