We are delighted to announce that our ‘Caravanner of the Year’ competition was filmed by the BBC and will be on BBC2 on 20 and 27 April!

We hope it gets you in the mood for getting out there and enjoying the summer season on our wonderful sites network.

The enthusiasts were faced with a variety of challenges covering activities such as manoeuvring, navigation, hospitality and caravanning knowledge.  There was also the precision challenge of the Concours D’Elegance which demanded much polishing and primping of their vehicles!

The first programme will introduce the entrants and whittle them down to the three finalists.

Tune in and watch, and don’t forget to tell your friends and family about it too!

thats the end of my contribution to the TV License, how could the BBC stoop so low as to make a programme about Caravanning......channel 5 and 4 fair enough but the BBC !!

i will be penning a strongly worded letter to the Director General......

The DG of the CC seems to think it will be fun, from the you tube clips

I have just seen the trailer videos for the Caravanner of the Year competition which is being broadcast at 8pm on BB2 this Wednesday and next Wednesday. The entrants are supposed to be the best 6 caravanners in the club; I do not know where the Caravan Club selected these 6 from, but quite honestly (from the trailers) they have done Caravanning no good at all,  and the club should be charged with bringing the Caravan Club into disrepute, to the point that heads should roll (but I doubt it). Maybe the full programme will be different but quite honestly Jeremy Clarkson must be laughing his head off. Let's all have a look and hear everyone's comments.

I re-read my post on the thread you started 'rkj' and although not meant to be, it might have read a bit flippant, hope you didn't read it that way InnocentSmile

As for the 'contest' Undecided For entertainment value I'm looking forward to Wednesday, but seriously hoping it doesn't paint a bad picture of our hobby.

As it is being judged by  the CC the winner might just have to have a Range Rover  and an Airstream.caravan and go about in a dinner suit. They wont want go encourage the "Lower Orders"  would they.

surely, there will be an equal chance of the winner being a MHer?

after all, the starting line up will undoubtedly contain an equal number of caravanners to MHers.....wont it.....?
