We are delighted to announce that our ‘Caravanner of the Year’ competition was filmed by the BBC and will be on BBC2 on 20 and 27 April!

We hope it gets you in the mood for getting out there and enjoying the summer season on our wonderful sites network.

The enthusiasts were faced with a variety of challenges covering activities such as manoeuvring, navigation, hospitality and caravanning knowledge.  There was also the precision challenge of the Concours D’Elegance which demanded much polishing and primping of their vehicles!

The first programme will introduce the entrants and whittle them down to the three finalists.

Tune in and watch, and don’t forget to tell your friends and family about it too!

What I want to know is 1. How did they all manage to get hard standing pitches, and with empty pitches opposite, did they all arrive before12am? 2. How did they all manage to pitch together, did someone run in before booking in time and save a space? 3. Why didn't the wardens reprimand them for cleaning the caravan on site? Don't worry that it was a total embarrassment and that no one will now ever want to join the CC, they will just all think there are plenty of hard standing pitches available and you can just pull in where you want to. Biggest load of rubbish ever!

Write your comments here...There would be cones in place before they arrived

I did write that tongue in cheek Ian HNW.

Rocky, glad to see you know the difference between a programme & a program,

Ian, that wasn't a programme, that was satirical theatre, made solely to put bums on seats. . . .It worked tooLaughing

Am I correct to assume that the Club paid for the repairs to his van - i.e my membership and pitch fees?  Would a Freedom of Information Request to the Club get that answered?

He probebly has caravan club insurerence, just  in case someone asked such a thing

I thought it was great, not from a 'quality programme' perspective but for complete laughter. I must be the only person that got exactly what they expected. The beginning was cringeworthy mind-A Hi-De-Hi set complete with tannoyed Gladys PughLaughing. That anal list making couple, the Lady was a good driver & good fun, She laughed at Herself quite happily. Roll on next weekHappy

You are absolutely right in what you say, Rocky. It was comedy of the year. The competitors were case studies in themselves. Happy

However, as a shop window for CC, it was a disaster and complete farce.

TW, didn't think you were going to watch it.Surprised

I didn't and going by the comments posted on here, it lived up to my expectation of belittleing the caravan fraternity and Caravan Club in general, It sounss like it was a waste of our membership fees, I hope the BBC paid well ...Cool

I'm sure our esteemed Chaiman is cringing tonight and downing a bottle or two of wine after watching that.  I have never laughed so much.  I think the program producers probably sold this slightly diferently to the CC, but the result was another episode of Boomers.   Loved it.  Although very cringeworthy.  Not sure it sold the hobby of caravanning though.
