We are very disappointed with the new signage at the entrance to sites. The old green one was a welcoming and EASY TO SPOT after a long tow. The new ones are awful and really the type is too indistictive to spot, especially where there are other advertising or signage boards. Surely something more distinctive could have been designed!!! The general consensus of people we spoke to on sites was that this really is an issue the Club will have to address.

After travelling 150 miles the last 4 miles on a single track road with passing places not large enough for a car and caravan and then to miss the entrance to the cl  all because of the new stupid sign it does not stand out like the old one did ,is this progress I don't think so.

It sounds like there is a bit more wrong with this CL than signage. Should it really be accepting rigs like yours. If you had met something else of similar length in the middle of the four miles, who would have reversed for two.😉

Signs look absolutely fine to me.

Nowadays, if you're relying on signage to find your way to any site, you probably haven't done your homework properly. Surely with google maps, earth & street view etc, it takes minutes to familiarise yourself with the final stages of the journey, taking note of obvious 'markers' along the way.

I think the white area makes them stand out.

Beats me how you can crawl carefully down a single track lane and not see the entrance. I'd understand it if someone was driving far too fast for the conditions though.

Do really look on Google street view every time you go away somewhere? I thought signs in general were pretty good 'markers' in their own right

Depends on the location and the handbook instructions from the CAMC.

Just takes 5 mins to check out the actual location, site entrance, stopping places if we're a tad early, passing places and where the first signs are.

Common sense approach to me. 😉

I also find it strange that anyone should tow any great distance to their destination and then rely solely on a small sign of any colour to pinpoint their stopping place. But does no-one else use (OK, old fashioned!) OS maps these days? All CL details give grid references - I just use these to locate where I'm ending up. Never failed me yet! smile

My own personal thought is that they just need to be made larger.  There is a bit too much white at the bottom, for me.  I find the actual logo fine, in itself.

I agree, that using just the signage is not the prime way to locate the site.  When I go to a site, I always know where I am going before I get there, and Google maps on the phone is usually very good.
