I was just interested how many Centres were putting names & addresses of marshals in this years rally books/lists.

Bit difficult to send a cheque by email.

Indeed but that is not necessarily a problem that cannot be resolved. A few days ago I sent about £50 of surplus computer inks to a member of a forum that OH runs with my help. 20 cartridges. They paid postage and £10 donation towards the sites annual server fees. The payment was made by transfer to a designated account that I use for similar purposes. Used the same method when helping a neighbour to sell things. Could have just as easily had the money be paid in at a bank to my account. Also after contact by phone I could have given out my address to one individual rather than the 'world'

Don’t want to be rude.  But most of the comments on here are theoretical.  Mine are practical.  So yes my name and address is published in our Rally brochure which has a limited distribution and no I don’t loose any sleep over it.    If you worry that much security a caravan missing from the drive is going to be a much bigger hint than a name in a Rally book.

I don't worry in the least Boff. However I thought we were talking about internet usage.

I am happy to post when I will be away and the fact that there is probably a couple of hundred in fivers left in my sock drawer and probably half of that in front room cabinet to pay window cleaner, lawn cutting etc. I am happy to do this on open forum as my location is not revealed beyond my living in wales and near to Chester.

Don't see any reason why their details should not be available. They have volunteered to take on the role of rally organisation and with that goes the need to be contacted.

cool

Being contacted is not the issue it's printing the address.  We have always printed addresses in the past but made it very clear to members how to dispose of their rally books securely at the end of the season.

Bill, for our centre I use the email address to make initial contact and the address is sent to me, then I forward the rally booking form and deposit. A  recent contact let me know the rally was nearly full so I knew I had to get cracking! When I read the rally pages on here and look at the different web sites I realise the various centres all have their own ways of doing things. smile

I agree that is how I operate.  Although it will upset the non computer members I assume that on-line booking for every rally is the future which I know some Centres operate.

There is also the phone but I rarely use it to avoid disturbing people but that's the alternative for non internet users.

Sounds sensible

It works OK, it would be easier to have the address, but it's not a big problem. Rallies are open to all, centre and non centre members and it's up to individual centres how they operate.

As has been alluded too up thread, Data Protection legislation is being updated and data lists, electronic or not, now fall within its remit. We are all going to have to jump through yet more legislative hoops now.
