Comfortable clean and convenient

York Beechwood Grange Club Campsite
Perfect position for a whole wealth of things to do and places to see that York and the surrounding area has to offer. Well maintained and clean. Friendly helpful staff. Surprised by some negativity when reading previous reviews but then realised some people probably don’t understand what camping in the countryside might entail. E.g. noisy birds.

Fantastic site!!

York Beechwood Grange Club Campsite
We were only intending to stay one night before moving onto Whitby. Unfortunately our motorhome developed a fault so we stayed longer in the hope we could get it repaired locally. On our first afternoon, we visited the Shambles and had a lovely walk round. The taxi firm recommended by Reception - Streamline, were punctual, accommodating, friendly and reasonably priced. The staff at the site were friendly and helpful with recommendations for our motorhome repair. Unfortunately the local garages were either too busy or did not have the lifting/ramp equipment. So we stayed an extra two days before heading back home. The shower block was absolutely spotless! Rather surprised at the complaint from someone who was there at the same time as us. The facilities were extremely good and above all, warm and clean. The hard standing pitches were a good size, most of which were divided off by neat hedging. Its a shame people complain about the rooks, but thats often the case when sites are surrounded by trees. Its country life. We could not fault the site. It was a great place for us to relax. We will definitely return later in the year!!

Not a peaceful site,

York Beechwood Grange Club Campsite

Not a peaceful site any more. 4th visit to this place, not so clean in the shower blocks although showers are very good but not cleaned very well, Had stains on toilet floor the whole week I was there. I know it’s weather controlled but all the grass was neat on site except for the 5 grass pitches which were so long when we arrived we had to tread it down to get the carpet flat. No peace on this site as over run with crows, I love the sound of nature in the morning but these are a joke, we found it had to talk over them at times so steer clear of the tree areas. We sat in caravan most of the time as we were right under a tree which left a terrible mess on awning and caravan, I know to expect some mess but this was ridiculous, took 2 hours to clean awning before leaving and I just wish I had taken a pic of roof before we cleaned it when we got home.

Great place to visit York

York Beechwood Grange Club Campsite
Been here twice over the last 6 months. Lovely site and helpful staff. York town is 10 mins (10 quid) in a taxi and there are plenty of takeaways near by if you can’t be bothered cooking 😬.

Nicely kept site, great location for trips into York, great facilities and family friendly, would return!

York Beechwood Grange Club Campsite
We picked this site for an Easter break with the kids, we wanted somewhere that we could easily get in to York for a day trip for the railway museum & castle museum etc and didn't much fancy the other club site in York itself as some of the access roads looked like they may be a bit "fun" with a caravan in tow - access to this site on the other hand straight off the A64 is really easy. We also wanted a site with a half decent playground for the kids to play and this site certainly ticked the boxes there too - they had a wonderful time, made some new friends immediately and had lots of fun. The facilities block is of excellent standard - modern, clean, plenty of toilets and showers for the size of the site, we never had to wait, except for when the blocks were closed for cleaning - at that point, all that's available is the disabled & family bathrooms. The showers were powerful, lovely and hot, no silly timer push-buttons just proper controls, and plenty of space to change and hang up clothes. We had a lovely friendly welcome from the wardens, who gave our kids activity packs etc and made them feel special too. At night there was a little bit of road noise from the nearby A64, but nothing at all major, not loud enough to be a problem, and mostly covered by wind & rain in typical British Easter weather fashion anyway! The location isn't great if you fancy walks directly off the site - a more countryside located park would probably be better for that - but as we were planning to use it as a base for day trips out in the car that was no problem at all for us. For our daytrip to York itself, it was an easy five minute drive to the park and ride at Monk's Cross where there was plenty of parking, and the "All York Family" bus ticket for all four of us including parking for £5.50 was good value, a clean electric powered double-decker bus dropped us right into York near The Shambles. Monks Cross has a decent variety of shops too. We went to the Pizza Hut there for dinner when we got back from York, but after seeing the prices and being expected to order ourselves by scanning a QR code on the table with our phone etc we changed our minds and walked out - it's not a fine dining restaurant for sure but for the prices being charged we'd expect to actually be served. All in all the site was very nicely kept and we'd be more than happy to return.
