Why stay here ...

OFFERS*: Kids for £1 (aged 5-17) | Under 5s stay free | £5 refundable deposit

One of our North Yorkshire campsites, Thirsk Racecourse Club Campsite is managed by the Club on behalf of the Racecourse. Whilst staying here you'll be pitched within sight of the main stand, with the famous turf stretching out before you. A 5-minute walk from the caravan park will take you to the lovely cobbled market town of Thirsk, with its quaint shops, pubs, cafes, secluded side streets and rich local atmosphere and the award winning James Herriot Museum. There are two supermarkets located adjacent to the site and the train station is only a mile away so you can easily visit the cities of York and Newcastle.

Conveniently situated midway between the A1 and the A19, Thirsk Racecourse Club Campsite makes for a natural overnight stop - but there's so much more to explore as well. Just a short drive away are many other traditional Yorkshire market towns such as Helmsley, Masham and Bedale. You will also be in pretty Herriot country, between the lovely rounded Yorkshire Dales and the more dramatic North York Moors - you'll want to make the time to enjoy the splendid views and walks that these two majestic destinations have to offer. There are various National Trust and English Heritage sites within the surrounding area, including spectacular abbeys such as Fountains, Rievaulx, Jervaux and Bylands. Whether you plan a longer stay or a short travelling break, this campsite has much to recommend itself and you are assured a relaxing and pleasant stay.

Please Note: Reception at this site may close earlier than 8pm and staff may not be available to greet you. If this is the case, don’t worry, you can still arrive on site until 8pm. We will simply contact you on your day of arrival with details of how to check-in. Please ensure your contact details are up to date on your Membership profile.

LOVELY LOCATION BUT INVESTMENT OVERDUE

LOVELY LOCATION BUT INVESTMENT NEEDED Having stayed here many times, over many years, can highly recommend the site’s central town location and mostly am very fond of the site, also noted as usually having a friendly mix of campers, regulars and new visitors. The site fee is less exorbitant (£26pn) than... Show more

Thanks again!

Just back from a wonderful 3 nights at Thirsk that incorporated race day for the 1st time. We've been before but never when there's horse racing on. The wardens explained everything we needed to know about the rally field, times etc. The wardens in my opinion were very approachable, friendly... Show more

Great Location - Ruined by the weather.

Disappointed.

Very handy site for Thirsk and perfectly adequate - Friendly welcome

We stayed at the Racecourse site for three night in mid-May '24. We arrived on the day before a race meeting, so we knew that we'd have to move to the 'Rally Field' until after the meeting, the following day. We were met by the wardens, Gary and Lisa, at the... Show more

Very poor site and extremely disappointed

Very disappointed in this site. Our first and last stay here I'm afraid. Certainly not up to the usual Club standards. Issues are: 1. Very noisy site. Busy road running behind the non awning pitches not shown on any of the club photos. Noisy late night yobo traffic using that road... Show more

You won't be disapointed

Nice site, really nice wardens. Very close to town. Must disagree with some negative comments on the facilities, found them to be spotlessly clean and not as outdated as some seem to suggest (and for £51 for a Fridayand Saturday night stay, it's cheaper than a lot of CAMC sites).... Show more
