Nestled in the Conwy valley of North Wales is Betws-y-Coed, a village that acts as the gateway to Snowdonia for walkers, cyclists and other outdoor pursuits enthusiasts.
However, you don't need to go out of Betws-y-Coed to have a great time if you're staying here. On the edge of the village green is the railway station, complete with a museum, cafes and shops.
There are pleasant walks to be had beside the River Llugwy and River Conwy, where you can spot attractions such as the Fairy Glen and the beautiful Conwy Fall.
The village is also home to a surprising array of restaurants, whether you want a quite bite or a gourmet evening meal, while a selection of pubs and inns can provide refreshment at any time of day.
If you want adventure, though, you'll be in your element. From Betws-y-Coed Adventure Centre, you can go rock climbing, canyoning, orienteering and exploring in an abandoned underground slate mine. Add Conwy Castle just a short drive away and you'll agree that this is no sleepy place to take a break.
