Good overall for a few days or overnight

Comments about signage I’d agree with. There is a lay-by and information sign opposite the entrance as a land mark if needed. The grass pitches are largely level with electricity, a rubbish bin and chemical toilet disposal but no obvious gray water grate suitable for motorhomes. £12 a night (+£3 if you have an awning) seems reasonable to me but as indicated, the owner seems to have a relaxed approach to coming round to collect the fees. Road noise is noticeable and without it, things are very peaceful. Good area to see wildlife with pairs of red kites visiting regularly. The Clachan Inn at St John’s Town of Dalry is a good local pub & eatery.

Easy to miss

Missed entrance due to signage not clear from roadside. Site very pleasant overlooking Loch Ken, however, very close to busy road. No sign of the owners so had to drive away without paying. We had rung before leaving, but no answer until we arrived at next site. Sending a cheque on return to home.

caleb commented 08/08/2014 Edit | Report We stayed on this CL in August 2014. It is immaculately kept and the tap and waste emptying are close at hand. Unfortunately we wouldn't return as there is NO SIGNAL WHATSOEVER FOR TELEVISION OR RADIO reception (despite having a booster arial), and whilst we are not tv addicts it would have been nice to catch up on the news as we were there for over a week.

Visited this CL May2013 must say the weather could have been better, it rained most days. However the site was great with excellent views up and down Loch Ken. We found lots to do, great places to visit along the Solway Firth. The owner comes high recommended he is very helpful and friendly chap who has lived there all his life so has lots of information. We will visit this CL again.
