Ellesmere Certificated Locations

A quaint market town situated in North Shropshire, Ellesmere is the perfect destination for those who love the great outdoors.

Ellesmere is a great spot for birdwatching, with a small heronry on the mere, and Wood Lane Nature Reserve attracting more than 180 species of bird.

Visitors will want to sail out on the Mere in Ellesmere - which has been awarded a Green Flag Award -  whether by commandeering their own rowing boat, or enjoying an easier ride on the steam boat.

History buffs will want to visit the remains of Ellesmere Castle - a motte and bailey castle constructed shortly by the Normans after the Conquest of 1066. Not much is left of the original structure, but the motte has been used as a bowling green since the 18th century.
