Holkham Ropes Course
Enjoy your trail of discovery through the treetops, over wobbly crossings and swinging bridges
View and BookThe Midden site, as the name suggests, was developed and built by our family on the old Wells Rubbish Dump. With environmental decisions as a focus, 44 years later this 6-acre location has thousands of mature trees dividing the land into 4 large fields, one of which is the designated Camping and Motorhome Campsite. A quiet, rural destination; filled with birds and animals; this site is an ideal location for those who love the North Norfolk Coast but also appreciate time away from busy holiday activities. We provide large pitches, water tap and electricity. The Midden has the added bonus of being a station for the Wells to Walsingham Light Railway.

What a beautiful CL! Grass clearing surrounded by trees and even though this was the second week of November after a wet summer, the ground was perfectly dry and no problem with a 2wd car. Surrounded by many wild birds, squirrels and rabbits, I thoroughly enjoyed the three nights spent here.... Show more

3 nights at The Midden. We could easily have stayed longer as there is plenty to do without driving. As others have said, it’s easy to miss the signs to the site. Large grass clearing surrounded by trees with plenty of space for 5 vans. It... Show more

What a lovely little site hidden in a clearing in the woods. Delightfully chilled site with EHU dotted around so you can park as you wish! Grass pitches were fine for us in October, but would ring and check if it had been very wet! We will definitely come again... Show more

A small clearly marked woodland glade welcomes you when you arrive on site. Despite being close to the road and the local refuse recycling centre it is very peaceful, particularly at night. The history of the site is very interesting so don't forget to read the book hidden in the... Show more

Great little site. Very pleasant owners. Easy access to Wells and buses along the coast. We had a warm welcome from the chickens each afternoon. Highly recommended and will definitely stay again when in Norfolk.

We have recently visited this site. Its quite large and surrounded by trees, but always get sun during the day. The site is approximately 25 mins walk into Wells-at-the-sea (depending how fast you walk). You could easy miss the entrance to this site, but its only a very short distance... Show more

Spent 4 nights in late Sept in Motorhome. 15 min walk to buses and to town and 30 to seafront. Really good basic CL. Worth walking around the field as some ehu tucked into corner We used the private stop on the light railway which goes to Walsingham. Only goes that way... Show more

This site, as well as the area, was a very pleasant surprise. We stayed a week, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The site is close to Wells-next-the-sea, as well as several other small towns and local attractions. One bonus was that the owner has produced a history of the site, and... Show more

This CL has it all for us. Easy access into Wells, peaceful and well looked after. Access to the site is good, just look for the entrance on the left after you pass the recycling centre. If you are there for more than a few days ask... Show more

Once again we return to The Midden, I cannot fault this CL in any way. Even in the height of season it is ideally located to remain peaceful. Perfect for walking, cycling, ornithology or just relaxing. Great bus routes give access along the North Norfolk coast.
