Spot On!

Shrublands
We reached Shrublands via the two way minor road from the A149 at Wells Next The Sea. The site is behind the property from which it gets its’ name, and the track to it is to the right of the property. As detailed in the site description the 5 level pitches are well screened from each other by hedging. Ours gave good views over the adjoining farm land and despite recent very heavy rain the grass showed no sign of it. Electric hook-up and water tap adjoin each pitch so everything is on-hand. There is one shower room and a separate W.C. in a converted outbuilding at the entrance to the site. The washing up area is on the outside of the same building. All three have PIR activated lighting are of a standard similar to what you would expect in a mid-price campsite and an unexpected bonus at a C.L. There is a “summer house” available for guests. This includes two comfortable upholstered armchairs, a writing desk and chair along with a book swop, local information leaflets and reference books. This proved ideal for a “sundowner” on an evening when it couldn’t decide between rain and sunshine. The Lynx “Coastliner” bus service stops by the entrance to the site and provides an hourly service to Wells Next The Sea and on to Kings Lynn, or southbound to Fakenham. There is a connecting “Coasthopper” bus service from Wells to Cromer which we found ideal for walking a section of the coast path back to Wells. The local pub (Carpenters Arms) is a short walk from the site, but you will need a torch once it gets dark. The meal we had there was excellent. We enjoyed our stay (despite some inclement weather), would happily stay again and recommend Shrublands (and the pub!) to other members.

We Highly Recommend Shrublands. A Lovely Site and a Very Peaceful Location.

Shrublands
Our first time of using a Certified location and it couldn't have been a more pleasant experience. Lovely large level pitches, each with your own water tap, with good shower, toilet, dishwashing and waste disposal facilities. Susan and Graham are very welcoming, friendly and helpful, with lots of information about the local area etc. Amazing wildlife around the site with Red Kites flying overhead. The village of Wighton has a very nice pub and a lovely Church and interesting old buildings. A short distance from Wells, we used the Lynx bus service which was fabulous, picking up and dropping off right outside the site !! We have already booked again for September and next year also. Thank you both for a very relaxing and peaceful break. Paul & Terry.

Lovely location, warm welcome.

Shrublands
Thanks for another very enjoyable stay. The pitches are in bays giving a feeling of privacy and have their own water tap. The shower and toilet are really clean. There is a very handy bus service into Wells and beyond which stops just outside the cl. The friendly owners are welcoming and helpful. All in all a really nice site, would recommend. We look forward to our next visit.

welcoming site

Shrublands
We stayed for over a week at this quiet site and would return again if in this area. The site is very quiet and caravans are well spaced with green partitions between. The grass is short and clippings are collected,{none of that dried grass clinging to shoes and caravan floor}. The use of water next to caravan was great and the waste water drained into the shrubs that surround the site. The site was a bit untidy but I think, because of it, the variety of birds to be seen from the caravan was great. The downside was there was no recycling on site, but everything had to be taken to a recycling point a couple of miles away. The owners were often on site and if you wanted they were willing to talk, but not intrusive. Plenty of places to visit in the area and the beaches were lovely, even though often a good walk away from either the car park or in case of Wells Next To The Sea.

Enjoyable stay

Shrublands
We visited this site in April and we find it an ideal site for us as it has EHU and water to every pitch. With Covid, and using own facilities, having your own water tap was ideal. The site is in a very good position for seeing north Norfolk, we have booked for next April again. The pub down the road is good for food and a drink. I feel the previous review has been unfair to the site. We have visited Shrublands many times, and have seen gradual improvements to the site. The owners are very friendly. As for phone signal, we are Vodafone and have never had a problem with a signal.
