Chapel-en-le-Frith is a market town in the High Peak region of Derbyshire, just on the edge of the Peak District National Park.
Known locally as just 'Chapel', it also boasts the well-earned moniker 'Capital of the Peak' thanks to its picturesque location and wide range of local attractions.
It's the ideal spot if you want an outdoorsy weekend break, as there are walking trails aplenty. Don't miss climbing to the summit of Eccles Pike, where you can enjoy 360-degree views of the spectacular surrounding hills. Comb Moss - and its Iron Age fort ruins - is also a must, as is the enjoyable walk along the Cinder Path to Combs Reservoir.
For sightseeing, focus on the cobbled Market Place. Here, there are Cromwellian stocks, an ancient cross, a Victorian cattle trough and a war memorial that carries the name of everyone who served in the world wars, not just those who died.
This is also the ideal location for refreshments, as the market is surrounded by pubs, cafes and restaurants.
For families, head to the Chestnut Centre Otter, Owl & Wildlife Park on the outskirts of town via Castleton Road.
