You arrive in Los Angeles, the City of Angels. For this first night you can relax in your hotel room, and prepare for the start of your adventure in the morning. Then it’s time to collect your motorhome from Cruise America in Los Angeles - and you can hit the road!
Drive first to the rural hamlet of Santa Margarita - renowned for farm-to-table dining and world-class wines. From here you head west along the breathtaking Route 1, enjoying the beauty of the Californian coast for the day as you travel towards Monterey.
Top tip: Spot sea lions, sea otters and all kinds of marine life at the mouth of Elkhorn Slough.

In the morning, it’s time to get ready for one of the most scenic drives in the world! Head north on Route 1, making stops at the charming towns of Carmel and Monterey. At the end of this part of your trip you’ll find yourself in San Francisco.
Top tip: Small but mighty, San Francisco is a culinary powerhouse. If you only eat out once on your trip, make sure you’re seated at a restaurant in the Bay Area.

During the next couple of days we would travel east toward one of America’s most iconic national parks - Yosemite! In just three hours, you’ll find yourself surrounded by breathtaking waterfalls, granite cliffs and serene meadows.
Top tip: You’ll discover a fabulous view of the Yosemite valley from Glacier Point, including Yosemite Falls and the popular hikers’ destination, Half Dome.

Once you’ve had your fill of Yosemite you can join the scenic Route 395 heading south. As you head towards Lone Pine you’ll pass three other incredible national parks - Kings Canyon, Sequoia and Death Valley.
Top tip: Death Valley National Park never closes - pick a large open area, park up and give yourself half an hour for your eyes to adjust as you view the magnificent starscape.

Continue south through the stunning Sierra Nevada before reaching the vast, open landscapes of the Mojave Desert. Your destination is Barstow, where you’ll find plenty of fabulous places to shop, plus the Western America Railroad Museum.
Top tip: A visit to Barstow wouldn’t be complete without exploring the 10,000 year history of the Mojave National Preserve.

From here you can take an easy drive over to San Diego! Take a stroll along the beautiful waterfront and explore its neighbourhoods steeped in culture and history. Continue north along the coast to another incredible beachside destination - Newport Beach. Here you’ll find not one, but two piers - Newport Beach and Balboa - plus the old-school amusement park, Balboa Fun Zone.
Top tip: Enjoy a little culture with the modern and contemporary artworks at The Orange County Museum of Art.

And that’s a wrap, as they say in movieland! It’s time to drive the final 30 miles back to the depot in Los Angeles, bringing your unforgettable Californian road trip to a close.
