Start your journey with an overnight flight from London to the vibrant city of Cape Town. Refresh with a good night’s sleep at a 4-star hotel before collecting your motorhome the next day. Once you’ve stocked up with provisions, it’s time to start your adventure.

Our plan would be to drive first into the heart of the Cape Winelands to the picturesque town of Franschhoek. Set up camp among rolling vineyards and allow yourself a couple of days here - a good opportunity to embark on the famous Franschhoek Wine Tram to taste some award-winning wines.

When you’ve had your fill here, head towards the coast to Hermanus, the whale-watching capital of South Africa. Depending on the season, you might spot Southern Right whales from the cliffs, or you could take a boat tour for an up-close experience.
Top tip: You can identify a Southern Right whale by the distinctive white callosities (calcified skin patches) on their head.

The charming coastal village of Struisbaai is your next stop, lying near Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa. A highlight here is the iconic Cape Agulhas Lighthouse: when you pay a visit you’ll stand where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet.
Your journey continues onwards to Mossel Bay, known for its adventure activities and stunning coastline. Explore the Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex and visit the Post Office Tree, a milkwood tree believed to have been used by early explorers as the country’s very first post box!

From here you drive inland to the Klein Karoo’s Oudtshoorn, famous for its ostriches. You can visit an ostrich farm and learn more about these fascinating birds.
Top tip: Book a tour of the awe-inspiring limestone Cango Caves.

It’s an easy journey from here to Swellendam, one of South Africa’s oldest towns. It’s well-known for its Cape Dutch architecture and lush landscapes. Take your time and wander through the town’s historical sites, art galleries and charming cafes.
Your last stop is the pretty town of Paarl, nestled in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Explore the Paarl Mountain Nature Reserve or tour the iconic Afrikaans Language Monument.
Top tip: Stretch your legs with a hike up the huge granite Bretagna Rock.

It’s now time to make your way back to Cape Town, reminiscing about the unforgettable landscapes, flavours and experiences along the journey. Drop off your motorhome and take in one last view of Table Mountain before heading home, carrying memories that will last a lifetime.
