2020 is certainly looking up for Caravan and Motorhome Club member Mr Neville Darlow, who won a brand new top specification SsangYong Korando worth £26,000 in a competition jointly held by the Caravan and Motorhome Club and SsangYong.

The Club and SsangYong launched the competition at the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at Birmingham NEC in February 2020, and received thousands of entries answering the question “What does 'Get Away Your Way' mean to you?” Mr Darlow, who lives in South Yorkshire, responded: “Escape from your normal lifestyle, have real freedom, tranquility, peace and relaxation at your own pace and in your own time.”

He and his family visited their local SsangYong dealership in Rotherham to pick up the 4x4 at the end of August. The keys were presented to them by Caravan and Motorhome Club ambassador and Great British Bake Off contestant Karen Wright and SsangYong UK Marketing & Communications Director Stephen Gray.

Mr Darlow said: “It was absolutely fantastic news to find out that I had won the SsangYong Korando competition. I still can't believe how lucky I have been. I took the Korando for a drive locally with my family and it was absolutely spot on. I am sure this lovely prize will provide many years of enjoyable motoring.”

A regular visitor to Caravan and Motorhome Club sites, Mr Darlow explained that he and his family tend to go away every few weeks in a normal year, but like many members they had to cancel travel plans in 2020 due to lockdown, including trips to London and Croatia. The family have been ‘shielding’ but have started to visit Club sites again, most recently staying at “lovely” Chatsworth House in Derbyshire.

Karen Wright said: “What a smashing family the winners of the car were. Loads in common with them, hope I bump onto them on site somewhere.” Stephen Gray, SsangYong UK Marketing & Communications Director, echoed the positive thoughts: “SsangYong are delighted to have worked with the Caravan and Motorhome Club in this competition that recognises the success of the outgoing Korando in Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards and with members. Mr Darlow was a worthy winner who was delighted with his new SUV, driving off with a big grin and cheery wave, and we wish him many years of happy motoring in his SsangYong!”

Harvey Alexander, Director of Marketing and Membership Services at the Caravan and Motorhome Club, added: “We are so pleased to have been able to brighten up Mr Darlow’s year with this excellent prize. The Korando is a great option for touring and we hope he and his family enjoy many years of driving it around the UK and visiting our campsites.”

With limited stock remaining of the previous generation Korando, SsangYong are offering up to £3,000 off the price, and members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club also receive a free towbar and electrics. Find out more at www.camc.com/ssangyong.
