We have some very exciting news to share with you.

2024 is the third year in which the Club has participated in the prestigious Green Tourism accreditation scheme. The scheme requires a lot of hard work, with sites implementing projects all year and then completing a submission for their Green Tourism accreditation, which covers all aspects of people, places and planet. This year, we are proud to announce that 122 sites are GOLD along with our head office at East Grinstead House, with the remaining sites all Silver - an amazing achievement!

Nick Lomas, Director General of the Caravan and Motorhome Club said, "We are thrilled to announce a major milestone for the Club. In recent years, the Caravan and Motorhome Club has made sustainability a key focus and, in partnership with Green Tourism, has recently been commended for our efforts across the key themes of people, places and the planet.

"We are proud to have 122 Gold sites, 28 Silver sites, and our Head Office Gold accredited. This marks a significant achievement and recognises the Club's commitment to continuously improving its environmental, social and economic activities, while aligning with our vision of ‘helping you get more from the great outdoors’.

"While we acknowledge that there is still much to do, this progress and achievement signal that we are on the path to becoming a more sustainable organisation for current and future members. Our commitment includes partnering with relevant accreditation schemes such as Green Tourism, establishing our baseline, and promoting responsible behaviours among staff, members, guests, and suppliers.

"I extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in this remarkable achievement. We are grateful to our members for their ongoing support. As we celebrate this milestone, we remain focused on our plans for future improvements and our commitment to sustainable tourism."

What is the Green Tourism scheme?

Green Tourism is a UK-based organisation, aiming to help tourism businesses measure, monitor and report on their services to improve their environmental and social impacts. They award Gold, Silver and Bronze to businesses to hallmark the ‘green journey’. These accreditations are recognised worldwide as an indicator of good environmentally-friendly practice.

Three key pillars are assessed, each with five smaller goals within them. The key pillars are People, Places and Planet, and these are scored to give an overall view of how sustainable a business is. In total 150 Caravan and Motorhome Club campsites, together with our Head Office, took part in the scheme in 2024.

Through the hard work of our staff and the support of our members the Club was able to achieve 122 Gold accreditations, 28 Silver accreditations and Head Office also received a Gold accreditation.

What's next?

The Club is dedicated to the Green Tourism journey, and while we are already proud, we still have lots of work to keep progressing and improving where possible. The sites across the network will hopefully continue to move in the right direction, and the Club is thrilled that Club campsites can now display their Green Tourism awards proudly for members and guests to see.
