Why stay here ...

Dotted between the trees, Pivka Jama is a carefully maintained site with pitches thoughtfully located throughout the forest, linked by a network of access paths and slip roads affording some privacy.

The campsite is open for a long season and well-tended by enthusiastic staff. Tennis and bicycle hire are available all season, and the restaurant offers traditional dishes in the summer. There’s also a swimming pool open in peak months.

The draw card to the Postojna area is its magnificent limestone caves. Pivka Jama boasts its own local cave network, and the staff at reception can organise day trips to the nearby Postojna Caves. A further 9km from Postojna is the ancient Predjama Castle, one of the world’s largest cave-based fortresses, perched atop a 123m high cliff. Other local activities include horse riding and fishing.

A Little Gem

Pivka Jama
We stayed here for 3 nights, our best advice would be to arrive early on the first day of your stay as there are no numbered pitches. You are told to park anywhere so that you can plug in to an electric point. Some people were not very considerate and took up a lot of room! It was a lovely natural site within an easy cycle ride of Postojna. The shop on site is closed now but there is a Lidl in Postojna. There weren’t many sun beds at the swimming pool but the pool was lovely. The shower block is a little bit dated but very clean. The restaurant was reasonably priced. Very peaceful and quiet.
