Why stay here ...
The Bleckede site is set southwest of Hamburg, nestled in extensive woodland in the UNESCO biosphere reserve in the Elbe valley in Lower Saxony. Perfect for a tranquil stop over en route to Hamburg or Denmark.
It is ideally situated for fishing and birdwatching in the surrounding area. Take a raft trip through the reserve and discover the wildlife close up with storks, cranes, sea- eagles, swans, geese and beavers . The “Elbe cycle path” passes right by the site and nearby there are many idyllic little villages with traditional architecture to visit.
Lüneburg is well worth a day out with its medieval historical city centre with narrow alleys, cobbled streets and listed buildings.
The site is adjacent to a tennis club and courts can be hired for serious tennis playing, there is free access to the nearby outdoor heated municipal swimming pool and there are discounted green fees for the Gôhrde Golf Club. Onsite you can find a children's playground and giant outdoor chess.
Abundant dog walks along the river and dog showers back at the site make this a perfect place for the furry family members too.
In the local area you can climb to the top of the 20m high observation tower at the Bleckede castle and enjoy superb views of the Elbe river. Alternatively visit the harbour or cycle on the disused track through forests and meadows on the cycle trolley experience.
