Site Needs Vast Improvement

Azur Camping Swäbische Alb
We arrived here for a 2 night stay, and did initially wonder if we had the right place. The entrance looked like the way into a yard of some kind. The reception building was quite small, but well kept and staff were very friendly. The building also contained a cafe/bar area and served only very basic food during daytime only. The journey to the site from the Autobahn goes through a number of small and busy towns; getting back the the Autobahn was tortuous to say the least. Toilet facilities were excellent, plentiful and kept very clean. Pitches weren't really marked out, but we did arrive right at the start of the season. It felt like the site preparation work had only just been started. There are numerous walking routes and traffic-free cycle paths around the plateau that the site sits on, all of which are very clearly signposted. The nearest place for shopping is around 7km away, with a good choice; there was very limited food shopping available on site. Overall, this was a bit of a disappointment, and the site wasn't as good as we've been accustomed to in Europe. We won't be returning here.
