Why stay here ...

Sophie at the Village du Port has recently  created this delightful campsite. It’s set on the 5 hectares of agricultural land owned by her family and passed on down through the generations, since her great great grandfather settled on the river banks in 1870 .

Her philosophy of "slow tourism" and eco responsible camping advises us to leave all the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind. It's a perfect location to enjoy the gentle riverside atmosphere and be at one with nature, whilst at the same time limiting the impact on nature and the environment and its wildlife.

The site is situated on the banks of the river Dordogne and you can get a fantastic view of the fishermen and canoeists from the bridge, just a short walk from the campsite.

Permits for fishing  can be bought just 50m from the site and fishermen can fish to their hearts delight in the most beautiful surroundings.

The pitches for caravans and motorhomes are at the entrance of the site in amongst the walnut trees, conveniently near to the service point and the converted barn, that makes a 5* washing facility. The remainder of the site down by the river is more for tents and prioritises pedestrians around the pool and tennis court area.

There is a tiny "bar à vin" on site, a tasteful conversion of the old farm where her grandparents lived, and decorated with the style of the wicker that her grandfather made. Here, you can taste the local bio wines and vegetable products that they still grow themselves along with the nut oil from the trees at the campsite.

A gentle stroll from the site there are two restaurants and the tiny village of Saint Sozy. Only 6kms from the site you can visit the Lacave caves with its own miniature electric train that takes you through the attraction. A bit further afield Rocamadour, Sarlat and the Padirac caves are all accessible for days out.

Les Grottes de Lacave - train ride through the caves, Cité de Martel, Rocamadour, Le Gouffre de Padirac, Collonges-la-Rouge, Curemonte and Sarlat-la-Canéda.
