Why stay here ...

Le Paradis is a small site run by a British couple Jon and Berni, who have decided to make a new life in this charming hamlet in the scenic countryside of the Haute Charente, situated just north of the Parc Naturel of the Perigord-Limousin. The couple live on site and are on hand to help you plan and enjoy your holiday with them.

The site has 30 spacious pitches and spotless sanitary facilities with a small playground and a dog field, where you can let your four legged friends have a run off the lead. It is perfect for a quiet, tranquil break with large grassy pitches and also fully serviced hardstanding pitches, perfect for those off season stays when it's quieter or a place to “refresh and recharge” en route to the winter sun.

Situated in between Limoges and Angouleme and easily accessible from the N10 the site is a great centre for visiting the surrounding countryside.
The magnificent Chateau de la Rochefoucauld is close by and the charming mediaeval village of Confolens is only 30 mins drive away.
You can also find a wonderful lake park area where you can splash around on a pedalo or stroll around the 350 hectares surrounding the two lakes, Lac Lavaud and Mas Chaban, just a short drive away.

Driving over towards the coast and La Rochelle, you pass through the vineyards of the grape used for the aperitif “Pineau de Charente” and the world famous Brandies Courvoisier, Hennessey and Remy Martin. Visit Cognac and its mediaeval quarter and do a bit of tasting at the distilleries on the way.
In the local area there are cycling paths and hiking routes if you are feeling sporty, alternatively the site is set amidst mature trees, flowers and fields and provides a cool haven to just read a book.

Just perfect

Wonderful hosts, beautiful campsite, spotlessly clean. We arrived at the site after 13hrs on the road as the car had a power loss problem. John and berni took control ( after they had brought us a lovely hot drink) and organised a local garage to sort car.... Show more

a gem of a site

We were made so welcome from the minute we arrived. Our pitch was large with full facilities including a washing line with pegs. Berni and Jon were so welcoming and are working very hard on the site. . Nearby lakes for swimming and canoeing. An interesting area to explore.... Show more

Rural idyll.

As other reviewers have testified this is a small attractive site in a completely rural setting. All pitches are fully serviced, mostly on hard standings and separated by well established hedges with large trees. We used the site as a 2 night stop over en route south to the Dordogne... Show more

Absolute gem, good disabled facilities

Fabulous location in deeply rural and beautiful Charente region. Very friendly hosts work hard to keep the site immaculate. Large pitches divided by hedges, good hard standings. Best wheelchair accessible shower and toilet we've found on this trip. Good dog walking in the immediate area plus a dog field on... Show more

Lovely........

We booked as do so many, with no first hand experience of the site, simply keeping fingers crossed. It is, as the title says - lovely. That counts for the character of the place and the character of the owners who are pouring love and commitment into their new home... Show more

Fantastic stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Le Paradis. Even though we picked a quieter few days, we were extremely well looked after. From the drink on arrival, to the useful advice on the area, through to the excellent facilities, we were really impressed by the care put into this... Show more

Excellent place to stopover on the long drive south

Friendly and welcoming after a long journey will even make you a cup of tea. Its very quiet and an ideal place to stay for a couple of nights if traveling south. It's a small site with good clean facilities. We stayed in November when few campsites are open. I... Show more
