Very Disappointing

The last review is some years ago, perhaps things have changed. We booked and paid for a pitch with private sanitary facilities, with fresh water hook-up and drainage, as clearly advertised on the site’s website. Our pitch was 228, accessible with some difficulty because of the closeness of the hedges around sharp corners on a narrow access road. We stayed in June 2024.
Upon arrival, we were not escorted to our pitch and had to unhitch and return to reception as there was no fresh or used water connection on our pitch. The staff did not appear to know what a ‘fully serviced’ pitch was.
Eventually an engineer came along and fixed up a temporary grey water connection into the private sanitary facility. Nothing could be done about the fresh water. The staff suggested towing our 7.5m caravan down to the motorhome service point everyday to fill our on-board water tank. Our awning would have had to be dismantled each day to do this. Staff obviously hadn’t a clue. They initially suggested we could empty our grey water tank the same way. I don’t know of a trailer caravan that has such a tank. We didn’t bring a waste tank or aquaroll with us as we believed the misleading description of our facilities having proper hook-ups. Electricity was fine.
With an unusable connecting hose, I was left struggling with a 40kg container we had to buy, carrying it from tap to caravan each day a distance of some 30m to fill our tank. Although we rented a sanitary facility, it is still necessary to use one’s on-board facilities at night, when it was cold, or raining.
The pitch itself was dreadful. Size was OK. about 100sqm, but the surface was like a rock-hard ploughed field, dangerously uneven with a bad trip hazard. My wife injured her ankle, and I nearly tripped over several times, not good in the presence of barbecues. When it rained, water ran down onto our pitch, flooding it, because the roadside drainage system was defective.
We were also unable to use our sanitary facility for several days because it was very cold and wet and the electric heater inside it failed to work. We later found out that there was a concealed master switch that no-one told us about.
Otherwise, the shop was satisfactory, the restaurant was good and their staff were helpful.
We did not use the pool, we came for the proximity to the coast and places around. We also hoped for a quiet site, but the motorhome opposite ran its TV very loud with their door open and one of the occupants decided that everyone should be able to appreciate his dire singing with a guitar outside too.
In summary, we hated this place, but stayed for our 8 days, because we wanted to rest, we liked countryside around and found some nice restaurants. Otherwise, not recommended for a mature couple seeking comfort and peace; never again.
