Why stay here ...

Set in the breathtakingly picturesque area of Ossiach, this site strikes the perfect balance between peace and activity. It offers something for all guests to enjoy against the stunning backdrop of lake and mountain scenery.

Many of the pitches have fine views and are set on level grassy terraces. There’s a private, lakeside beach for swimming and water sports, and in the evening you can enjoy an excellent choice of  Austrian food in the restaurant and then watch the sun go down from the lakeside.

Ossiach itself has plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants but its most prominent attraction is the historic monastery and Baroque abbey church. A visit to the Pyramidenkogel tower - the world's highest wooden observation tower - in Carinthia, is also well worth considering. There’s also endless options for hiking, cycling or fishing.

Dissapointing

Terrassen Camping Ossiacher See
Although the site is easy to find and is located in a lovely location overlooking the lake the touring grass pitches were not very well maintained, grass not cut and quite rough looking. We booked a fully serviced pitch and when we arrived we were directed to the pitches down by the lake. The waste water drainage had not been completed, just a pipe sticking out the ground, not only our pitch but all the pitches I could see, also there was no water tap on the pitch. The site description mentions over 400 touring pitches, but most pitches appeared to be seasonal pitches with a very small number of touring pitches. Will not be going back, far better sites in the area.

Twin axle caravan

Terrassen Camping Ossiacher See
This is a excellent site and the surroundings are stunning, access to and from motorway is simple just be careful if using sat nav as it may send you down a right turn into a lane with a low bridge. The site is not really twin axle friendly, there were two caravans in our party and the guy on reception just laughed when we turned up but to his credit he said just walk around and go where ever you want/can, luckily we found 3 pitches together and went lengthways across them.

Wish we had stayed longer - Stunning location

Terrassen Camping Ossiacher See
We stayed for 1 night on our way to the F1 in Spielberg.  On arrival we were asked to walk and go choose which pitch we would like. We were overwhelmed by the stunning pitches that mostly all overlook the amazing lake and views.  After pitching up we went swimming in the lake from the private beach and pier and were very surprised at how warm the water was.  We had dinner on the restaurant terrace which had a good choice of Austrian meals and finished our evening watching the sun go down over the lake, both agreeing that we should have booked at least another night in this marvellous place.  On our way back to the motorway we drove past lots of people on cycles who were doing a lap of the lake.  We noticed that there is cycle hire available and its something we will do next time we visit. Austria is such a beautiful country with stunning scenery all around - this is truly a gem of a campsite.

We would go back

Terrassen Camping Ossiacher See
We visited in July when the weather was very hot, we were able to swim in the lake and were surprised at how warm it was. Easy access off the motorway, family run and the views are fantastic. The site is terraced so you do have to take care when manouvering into aisle and onto pitch which are suitable for large outfits as they are a good size. Do not arrive between 1 pm and 3 pm as the gates are shut. Lovely site in lovely area and good for a few days stop over en route to Slovenia, Croatia or Italy.
