Top Quality Site

Grubhof
I would endorse the 5 star rating that others have given this site. The hard standing pitches, all with electricity, water and drainage, make life easy and all face on to grass. The site requests that one does not walk on other people’s frontage, awnings were expected to be erected on the hard standing facing the grass there being plenty of room. Electricity charges were included in the pitch fee but were metered (visible at the pitch) and were chargeable if you exceeded a 5kWH daily threshold at 80c per kWH. This we did several times on the cold mornings, maybe we should have used gas. I was hugely impressed by Sanitaire no 3 the newest and largest, supported on a concrete platform presumably to stay clear of flooding. The building itself seemed to be permanently heated, we experienced 5 deg C outside temperature one morning in June. The site is equipped with an automatic device that receives a full toilet waste tank (select Thetford or Dometic), empties it, washes it in and out and adds the necessary fluid for 2 euros. I didn’t find this great improvement so had to walk to the site entrance for a conventional disposal facility. There is no doubting the site’s excellence, so I have commented on a few of the details.

Easter Alps Trip

Grubhof
Fantastic site for walks and Climbing including Via Ferrata, you can literally walk off the site and begin hill walking and its' suitable for all abilities. But if you and your family is of the mindset that Disney World is better than Neuschwanstein Castle, this site or lifestyle of camper van and motor homing might not be for you. Kayaking is possible using the river along side the site. The staff at reception are friendly and helpful and were able to give me a contact number for a local lady who is a mountaineering instructor and a mountain rescue team member, this could also be useful if I didn't listen to her properly during the climbing I did with her. She was very knowledgeable and got me onto the hidden routes close by at a resonable cost. Winter will bring guaranteed ish' snow and summer will bring sunlight and warmth at this site. The facilities are immaculate and the site also offers a bar and caffe. The electric hook up is metered, but never used any as my Camper Van never needs plugging in, unless the sun forgets to rise for more than a couple of hours a day (like Scotland or Scandinavian countries) and then my MB Sprinter turns into a Tiger Tank from the Second World War and 30 minutes of engine cycle is required to cook up some battery power. This off sets my green solar making power and makes it into a carbon deficit just like my V6 3.0L Diesel MB engine should be. Moving on, there are plenty of supermarkets near by and a fancy cake shop which could help if your family is not for walking or any other outdoor activity minded. All the pitches are reasonably sized and come complete with water, hook up and a gray water drain for caravan owners. So definitely worth a stay as a part of your bigger Austrian European Alps Trip. So, in a nut shell would I recommend this site and worthy of a Award by the CAMC, then YES' but I would also Award some other Sites I have visited in Corsica, France, Italy and so on. I think the CAMC have awarded Sexten in the past and I would recommend that one as well if your thinking of visiting the Dolomites.

best site!

Grubhof
Exceptional site with great facilities. Stayed on the less formal camping area down by the river for 4 nights in June 2022 - had plenty room and easy access to electricity. Toilets and all facilities were modern, clean and in excellent condition. Beautiful setting - situated between two lovely villages with restaurants and a selection of supermarkets. Great restaurant on site. Lots of walking in the area - would recommend taking the chairlift in Lofer (Almbahn) up to the skiing area - lots of walking paths at the top and restaurants up there and good paths down or up to Lofer if you are feeling in need of more exercise. Bus to Salzburg just outside site. Dog allowed on certain pitches and good to cool off in the river - also a dog shower at site.

WOW! Superb Site

Grubhof
Having read the reviews prior to booking, well it has certainly lived up to expectations. Very warm welcome from reception and the booking process was so easy. Be aware that you must pay extra for dogs which was 3 euros each, plus green tax plus tourist tax. Huge fully serviced pitch which you are obliged to set up in a certain way, ably advised by the pitch master. As has been said, the site is segregated into areas allowing dogs or not etc. We had dinner on our first night and the food was delicious and again, we were made very welcome with our 2 dogs. Lovely river walk and watching the white water canoeing is really amazing. Reception has lots of information regarding local area. Sanitary facilities are absolutely brilliant with showers like small wet rooms and plenty of toilets for everyone. Looking forward to exploring further during our stay.

Excellent site

Grubhof
This is one of the best sites we have visited. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The pitches are a good size and are fully serviced. The site is divided into areas for people with dogs, families or couples. Other sites should follow this layout. The new sanitary facilities are exceptional and the large family bathrooms are luxury with a stunning view of the mountains while you shower. Good access for cycling routes direct from the site. Easy walking distance to Lofer or St Martin. The Saalachter card gives you free use of the cable cars in Lofer, the swimming pool in Lofer and the gorges. Even when the site is busy it is still very quiet and relaxing. Definitely a 5 star camping experience.
