The Caravan Club supports the Open Division at the 2014 POSCA

24/10/2014

The Caravan Club is delighted to announce it is supporting one of the UK’s highest profile national surfing events during the weekend 8 and 9 November at the world-famous Fistral Beach in Newquay, Cornwall.

The Club is well-placed to offer the UKs estimated 500,000 surfers access to its UK sites network consisting of around 200 main Club sites and over 2500 Certified Locations - (Certificated Locations are small, privately owned five-van sites, reserved exclusively for Caravan Club Members); many within striking distance of some of the UKs most popular surfing beaches – for pro’s, beginners and families alike.   The Club’s main site network also includes dedicated camping areas and nearly all have electric hook-up and shower facilities to make sure surfers are warm, fresh and ready for the next day’s action. They also offer a place for drying laundry, which means no more damp wet suits the day after!

Caravans, motorhomes and trailer-tents are becoming increasingly popular and provide flexible and affordable home-away-from-homes, holidays and breaks for those who like to get out into the countryside, whether it’s cycling, trekking surfing or simply relaxing – The Club shares your passion for the great outdoors.

And for those surfers and spectators who like to travel to Europe, The Club can help with a variety of travel arrangements by arranging overseas travel trips to 220 sites across Europe, and further afield; it can also provide technical advice about all things touring and tailored insurance services to give you added piece of mind.

By travelling overseas in a motorhome or with a caravan it also solves the issue of transporting your boards, many airlines charge over-inflated prices to carry sporting equipment but on a touring holiday, it won’t cost you any extra.

Tony Hall, Marketing Director for The Caravan Club, says, “Supporting the UK highest profile surfing event is a great way of connecting with those audiences that share our passion for the great outdoors, and whilst we know that surfers of all abilities are no strangers to the benefits of caravanning and motorhomes, a Caravan Club site can provide something far more than just a place to stay near some of their favourite beaches – safe, affordable, flexible accommodation with high-standard facilities, and importantly, a warm welcome from our site staff.”

Hall continues, “This is another example where membership of The Caravan `Club can provide real benefits to enable outdoor activists to pursue their passions, interests and hobbies, and we can help in lots of other ways too – from arranging overseas travel trips to our sites across Europe and further afield, to technical advice about all things touring, and we also provide tailored insurance services to give you added piece of mind. Even if you are not a member of The Club, we can still provide excellent facilities at our sites.”

Nick Rees, Operations Manager for the British National Surf Championships, says, “Surfing GB are proud and excited to see The Caravan Club's inclusion in our upcoming National Surfing Championships, the link between the two is obvious, caravanning is an enabler to the sport. The Men’s Open title is the most sought after in British Surfing and with the fantastic support of The Caravan Club we are able to see the elite of British Surfing battle out for the glory and a host of prizes, including a week’s holiday.”
