The Caravan Club recycles the equivalent in weight of 2,614 caravans of waste each year
05/02/2015
The Caravan Club is Europe’s largest touring organisation, representing over one million caravanners, motorhomers and trailer-tenters and it has the largest network of privately owned sites in the UK.
With over 200 sites, making available around 6.2 million bed nights (the number of people staying a night) each year, a sizeable amount of waste is inevitable.
However, The Caravan Club is a club with a conscience, and takes the matter of waste disposal very seriously. On each site there are dedicated waste disposal areas which host a series of different bins, allowing visitors to separate out their rubbish.
In 2014 just under 4000 tons of waste was produced with a massive 90% being recycled.
Nick Lomas, Director General of The Caravan Club says, “When you look at the figures they are pretty impressive and the fact that so much of The Club’s waste is recycled is great news and a great achievement! It is testament to Club members and site visitors that they take the time to sort their rubbish well, thus allowing The Club to ensure only a very small percentage goes to landfill.”
