Festive touring

28/11/2024

Christmas touring holidays are a hugely popular way to spend time with friends, family or to enjoy a solo break. You can stay at campsites near to cities, beaches or tranquil sites far from the madding crowds and completely immerse yourself in the beauty of the great outdoors when you treat yourself to a festive break. But make sure you decorate your leisure vehicle and leave out a mince pie so that Santa can find you!

Harvey Alexander, director of marketing and membership services at the Caravan and Motorhome Club said: "Modern leisure vehicles are fully equipped with everything you need for a snug holiday getaway and to prepare a sumptuous Christmas feast. Tourers can getaway to beautiful Club campsites and enjoy frosty Christmas walks or cycle rides in winter wonderland scenery and then return to the cosiness of their leisure vehicle to enjoy some festive food treats."

Stays at the following campsites will cost from as little as £33, or less, per night for a pitch and two adults over the holiday season.

Steamer Quay Club Campsite Totnes in Devon

A pleasantly quiet, green and spacious holiday getaway, with serene pastoral views. The beautifully kept caravan park is just a short walk away from the bustling town of Totnes that offers a wide choice of local pubs and restaurants. Totnes has been a significant port for many centuries and is perfect for a leisurely stroll along the banks of its busy river while taking in the historic atmosphere. Boat trips to the pretty harbour town of Dartmouth leave from the dock just across the road from Steamer Quay. The campsite promises a memorable break and the opportunity to absorb the traditional English life.

Lickpenny Matlock Club Campsite Matlock in Derbyshire

Set above the village of Tansley and within easy reach of the towns of Matlock and Bakewell. The 16-acre park was built on the site of an old nursery, and the existing mature trees and beautiful rhododendrons provide the perfect markers for more than 120 generous hardstanding pitches. Children can burn off excess energy at the centrally-located play area, and the woodland walk is ideal for dogs – so all members of the family can enjoy the holiday fun. The views from the park are spectacular, but the local scenery is just one reason to visit Lickpenny.

Hillhead Club Campsite Brixham in Devon

Set in 22 acres of beautiful Devon countryside and close to the beach, Hillhead Club Campsite offers some of the finest facilities on the network. As well as this, the campsite is set in a fantastic location with a large number of pitches offering stunning views of the sea and surrounding coastlines. There is plenty of entertainment for both the young and old with a playground, play area and an indoor complex housing a shop, bar, restaurant and takeaway service for all the conveniences you could want. The site also hosts a varied selection of evening entertainment and themed events.

Edinburgh Club Campsite Scotland

An ideal location for your festive getaway. Situated on the Firth of Forth, the caravan park provides easy access to Edinburgh where you will be ideally located for the many attractions, both modern and historic, that this beautiful city has to offer. Edinburgh is a friendly, cosmopolitan city and the campsite puts you within easy reach of some of its most famous landmarks. You can visit the castle which clings dramatically to a huge rock face (home to the Scottish Crown Jewels), walk down the Royal Mile to the Palace of Holyrood House (the King's official Scottish residence), stroll past the historic Scottish Parliament Building or enjoy the tranquil green expanse of Princes Street Gardens.

Brighton Club Campsite East Sussex

Ideally located just two miles east of Brighton, set within a fold of the South Downs and just a short distance inland from the Marina, this picturesque campsite offers easy access to the many attractions of this popular town. Buses are regular and for rail enthusiasts the historic Volks Railway, which runs along the prom, will be a treat. Brighton is a classic and lively British seafront town, filled with all the attractions you would expect from a famous coastal resort. For those brave enough, how about a Christmas Day swim? The shopping is excellent with many unusual boutiques and antique shops to browse in for any last minute Christmas shopping. With plenty to see and do locally and extensive recreational grounds adjacent to the caravan park, you're sure to have a holiday here that will be hard to forget.

Henley Four Oaks Club Campsite Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire

Surrounded by statuesque mature trees, adding privacy to your stay whilst enhancing the area's natural beauty. Nearby Henley is said to date from the early twelfth century. It has many old and interesting buildings for you to discover and the ornate stone bridge that spans across the River Thames is a popular landmark for visitors to this Club Campsite. It dates from 1786, though there is evidence of an earlier bridge dating from as early as 1170.  The site is well placed to visit some very interesting places including Windsor Castle, Hampton Court Palace and the city of London. Legoland, approximately 15 miles drive from the site, is a great fun day out for kids and adults.

Seacroft Club Campsite Cromer in Norfolk

In a great location, Seacroft Club Campsite is a top class holiday getaway. The caravan park has the added bonus of a leisure complex which includes a bar and restaurant. Visitors can enjoy a lively programme of varied entertainment and special events. The beautiful surrounding area offers plenty of activities for all ages, including a charming golf course plus sea and freshwater fishing. The coastal reserves located within a short distance from the Campsite offer a great opportunity for nature lovers, from long leisurely walks to bird watching. The site is also within easy reach of Sheringham and Wells-next-the-Sea.

Carnon Downs Club Campsite Truro, Cornwall

Just three miles south of the cathedral city of Truro with its excellent shopping centre, restaurants, museum and theatre, Carnon Downs Club Campsite offers 20 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds with spacious pitches, backed by hedges and flowering shrubs. An excellent base to explore the beauty of Cornwall. Wonderful walks can be enjoyed on and from the campsite, with the River Fal and the creek side hamlets of Penpol and Devoran just a short stroll away.

Lady Margaret's Park Club Campsite Wrexham in Wales

Boasting a range of pitches that are located in intimate tree-shaded glades and in open grassed areas. A pretty wooded parkland caravan site, the area is adjacent to the grounds of Chirk Castle in the heart of Marcher country. The castle remains the last Edward I Welsh castle still lived in today and features the award-winning gardens with thatched 'Hawk House', shrub garden, lime tree avenue and yew topiary. There are plenty of walks to enjoy in the local area and also a lovely dog walk from the site.
