Skiing, sunbathing, sightseeing and shopping: Four very different options available from the Caravan and Motorhome this winter

From weeks away in sunnier climes, a quick weekend city break or even skiing in the Austrian mountains, there are many options for Caravan and Motorhome Club members to have a rejuvenating break this winter.

With early booking offers and discounted ferry travel, escaping the UK over winter for either a long or a short break can be surprisingly economical. A week’s skiing in Austria can cost as little as £533* return for two people including ferry crossing.

Skiing and hiking in the Austrian mountains

Many do not consider travelling to the snow in their motorhome, campervan or caravan, but there are miles and miles of skiing and hiking just waiting to be explored. Stay at an award-winning, Sportcamp-Woferlgut campsite with superb pool, gym, spa facilities and take advantage of the skibus from the campsite entrance to Zell am See ski area and Kaprun glacier area.

Prices start at just £533 for return Brittany Ferries, Portsmouth-Caen ferry and seven nights at the campsite in January.  (No stopover campsites are included en route).

Beer at the weekend in Belgium

Winter is a lovely time to explore Belgium where tourers can spend time sampling the multitude of beers in cosy pubs, sightseeing without the crowds or simply enjoying the chocolate. The Klein Strand campsite is the perfect base to spend a long weekend in Bruges and it is only a 90 minutes’ drive from Calais. Members can take advantage of the special P&O combined deal where prices start at just £210 for return Dover-Calais ferry crossing and four nights at the campsite for two adults in a motorhome. 

There is also a 10 percent early booking offer discount at the campsite valid for bookings made before 31 Dec 2023.

Get in the Christmas spirit at a Christmas market

What better way to get in the Christmas spirit than by hopping over the English Channel and driving to Strasbourg or Colmar to visit their Christmas markets. Colmar has six different Christmas markets situated right in the heart of the historic town centre, each with its own particular theme. In Strasbourg there are 300 wooden chalets set up in the city’s historic centre coupled with its huge Christmas tree decorated with a multitude of lights, it is a truly magical experience.

Club members can book a seven night trip for £296 including return ferry crossing with P&O Dover-Calais and 5 nights at Camping de Strasbourg for two adults in a motorhome.

Relax in the winter sun in Spain  

The Caravan and Motorhome Club offers members great value breaks at over 40 campsites in Spain and Portugal that are open all year and the nightly rate often gets cheaper the longer the stay. For those who prefer the company of like-minded guests the Club also has the option of a winter rally at three hosted Spanish campsites running for 10 weeks from 8 January to 17 March 2024.  Two adults can have up to six weeks in Spain and a return ferry crossing with P&O Dover-Calais for just £858 in a motorhome; staying at the Alannia Costa Blanca and Vilanova Park tourers have the best of both worlds being near the beach and the cities of Alicante and Barcelona.
