Caravan and Motorhome Club purchases popular Cornwall campsite
29/04/2021
(21 April 2021) The Caravan and Motorhome Club has purchased award-winning Carnon Downs Caravan Park in Cornwall. The popular campsite, which has been an Affiliated Site with the Club since 2007, reopened on 12 April 2021 and will continue to operate all year round.
Located just three miles from the cathedral city of Truro and near the villages of Carnon Downs, Devoran and Feock, the recently acquired and newly named Carnon Downs Caravan and Motorhome Club campsite is an excellent base from which to explore all that Cornwall has to offer. There are many amenities close by, including the Old Quay Inn, and visitors can enjoy wonderful walks both on and from the campsite. The River Fal and the creekside hamlets of Penpol and Devoran are just a short stroll away, and the site is located on Route 3 of the National Cycle Network.
The campsite boasts 20 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and features 169 spacious touring pitches, of which 64 are fully serviced hard standings, 46 are standard hard standing and 59 are grass pitches. The campsite has a reception and shop onsite, Wi-Fi hotspot available, licensed cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, plus a children’s playground, football pitch and dog walking area. All facilities will be operating in line with Government guidelines. There’s also a popular storage facility, including a useful Store & Tow Service, and the campsite has two holiday chalets for hire.
The site reopened on 12 April, all current bookings will be honoured and there’s lots of availability for stays from September 2021 onwards. Prices start from just £30* per night based on two adults sharing a standard pitch. Bookings can be made for stays in 2021 online or by calling the campsite directly. Bookings for 2022 will be on sale soon.
Nick Lomas, Director General of the Caravan and Motorhome Club said: “We are delighted to have purchased the Carnon Downs campsite as it’s an excellent site that we know is hugely popular with our members. We would also like to thank Simon Vallance and family for all their hard work building and maintaining this fantastic campsite over the years and we look forward to continuing their success. We hope you will join us in celebrating this fabulous news as we reopen the network following lockdown, and we look forward to welcoming you on site soon.”
*Prices currently include 20% VAT, which will be adjusted at the point of payment in line with recent VAT reductions
