Playing "Wiggle the Wok"

"In the good old days" there was a Cardinal Rule for the procedure when setting up upon arrival at a new site. 

Our camping career can be described thus

Tent up, pegs in, kettle on.

Trailer tent unfolded, pegs in, kettle on.

Caravan levelled, legs down, kettle on.

Motorhome levelled, kettle on.

Have you spotted the rule.

I believed throughout my entire childhood and almost all my adult life that it was fundamental to our pastime that the first task permitted after doing the absolute minimum to secure the rig was to "have a brew". 

Shock! Horror! There are people out there who flagrantly flout this rule.

We have noted with dismay that an increasing number of the "motorhoming" fraternity across Europe do not adhere to this rule. Often, as soon as the wheels have stopped rotating, instead of turning on the gas or hooking up to electricity to "put the kettle on" they play "Wiggle the Wok".

For those not familiar with this activity it can be described as follows.

1. Motorhome stops.

2. Co-pilot leaves seat while pilot remains strapped in.

3. Satellite dish rises from the roof.

4. The Wok is Wiggled.

5. If the the Wok "locks-on" the engine is turned off and the pilot moves from their seat.

6. Failure to "lock-on" requires that the dish is lowered and the motorhome be moved to a new location where the game begins again.

During our recent tour of the wine growing region of the rivers Saar and Mosel in Germanty, in Klüsserath, on the banks of the River Mosel, we saw someone move at least 6 times to play "Wiggle the Wok"

Moving two or three times is commonplace.

Has the world gone mad???
