First stop on our tour - West Sussex

When we set off on our travels in 2014 we put all or household possessions into a storage container.  Some of the more precious items were safely re-homed with friends, but it was an odd feeling to know that we could fit our home into a metal box.  Mind you it was absolutely rammed in!

 We planned our first few stops so that we could pop back to the storage if we suddenly discovered there was an essential item missing.  In fact the reverse was correct, we soon discovered that we did not need half of the stuff we had loaded in the car and caravan. 

 Our first stopover was at Robertie Lee CL, which is a few miles to the east of Chichester.  We soon discovered that the then owner had sold the site and was leaving and someone new was moving in a few weeks later. 

 This was a part of the country we have not previously visited so were really keen to get out and do some exploring, which was also a good antidote to the stress of packing up everything and leaving our home to get on the road.

 The walking was a great mix.  We did an interesting eight mile walk around Thorney Island with the fresh sea breeze keeping us moving, the blog of that walk can be found here.

My favourite walking was on the days when we ventured onto the South Downs.  During our stay the Downs seemed to be constantly covered in low cloud, but that did not detract from the enjoyment of being out and about. 

It is difficult to pick a favourite walk from the week, but if pushed I would go for a walk that included visiting the Devil’s Jump, a group of bronze age burial mounds.  The visibility was awful, but it added a sense of wonder to the place.  The blog of that walk can be found here.
