Enjoying North Devon and the Tarka Trail

This story happened on: 04/05/2015

After leaving West Dorset the next stop on our 2014 tour was in North Devon with a stay at Collacott Farm CL conveniently located between Barnstaple and Bideford.

During our stay we covered a number of miles along the Tarka Trail starting off with a 4.5 mile walk from the CL to Fremington Quay, which wetted our appetite for more so we started at Fremington Quay and did a 7.5 miles walk to Instow and back, and then covered another section from East the Water towards Beam Aquaduct.

Interspersed with these walks we spent a cracking afternoon doing a 12 mile walk around Braunton Burrows and trips to Westward Ho! and Arlington Court.

Our longest walk was a 15 mile stroll from East Yelland along the Tarka Trail and Coastal Path to Appledore and back.

North Devon is one of our favourite spots to visit, not least because it is the home of Hocking's Ice Cream.  I am not a fan of ice cream, but I do make an exception for Hocking's!

You can be assured of a warm welcome at Collacott Farm.

Arlington Court is worth seeing isn't it, I love the carriage museum. Nice to read about the area in detail. Thanks.
