A Cornish Concoction pt 6 - Come fly with me.

This story happened on: 25/08/2013

Yep, here we go again with a hastily concocted part 6.The title may have given you a clue to what’s been happening – well we’ve been flying!
Norman the site owner mooted the idea a week or so back – his daughter is a pilot on the Lands End to Scilly Isles service operated by Sky Bus – and the idea came to fruition today. So me & Trev, two fellow caravanners from the site, along with Norman set off this afternoon for a scenic flight around the beautiful coast of Cornwall. Anyway, I’m going to dispense with the waffling – well mostly, and let the pictures tell the story.

The airport was small, obviously with just two check in desks. The staff were friendly, the terminal was airy and spacious and there was plenty of seating. So not a normal airport then. We were all weighed on check-in – after two weeks or burgers, beer, cream teas and pasties it’s a miracle we didn’t have to pay for excess baggage…..

We were nice and early so I was able to get some picture of the plane on the flight before ours.

Then it was our turn.

For the record the plane was Britten Norman Islander eight seater or nine without a co-pilot - with two engines – piston driven props which sounded great when they revved up - knocking out between 260-300bhp each.

There was some cloud around and for the first few minutes there wasn’t much to see, but as we cleared land and headed out to the coast it thankfully cleared.

Hugging the south coast we passed the Minack theatre at Porthcurno and then on to Mousehole.

Further on was Penzance and views to the north.

Our turning point was St Michaels Mount

We returned down the same coastline sweeping around Lands End then up past Sennen Cove.

As we descended we were able to glimpse the campsite, though sadly not Patsy.

It was all over too quickly but really great fun. Many thanks to Norman for organising it and his daughter for doing the honours. Hope you enjoy the photo’s and look out for part 7 soon.
