Nunnykirk - A site barely ready for Easter.

This story happened on: 01/04/2013

Just returned from a very restful 4 days at Nunnykirk. Its a very good job that this site was not booked out!! I would estimate 30 vans max at the site. We were advised on our arrival the new policy for ALL club sites is now to pitch White peg to the offside of your van. No problem there. This site had only opened for visitors on the Thurs before Easter, and it showed...More than a dozen pitches unusable due to extensive molehill damage rendering the ground very soft and off limits to all but 4wd's .Contractors on site most of Saturday laying ash on the site road..not ideal. Whilst not serious only ITV channels on the bollard,  waiting to be repaired. This very peaceful site-normally- is looking tired and in real need of modernisation. The reception and info huts are looking very neglected with roofs looking in desperate need of attention. In fairness the Wardens were very actively trying to correct these shortcomings but it needs saying that this should all have been sorted prior to opening.

I think that it was on the CC Web site that Nunnykirk had to be evacuated due to serious flooding at the end of last season. My CL hasn't been flooded (It's on top of a hill) but today is the first day this year that it has been dry enough for us to even think about rolling or cutting grass and any of the other little jobs that are needed to make the place tidy after a VERY LONG WINTER. I'm sure the staff had done everything they could to get the site ready for the new season!

Hi Tim Jim was there as well, the mole population at Nunnykirk must have exploded judging by the size of the mole hills. We had no trouble with TV reception normal and free view. But the site is looking tired but I believe the site is leased. For me the worst part of the site is the road to the site from the road.
