Challenge 50 – report back on what it is that you feel makes CL sites so special

During the 20:20 challenge we’ve stayed at Caravan Club sites, Certificated Sites, Affiliated sites and European sites so have experienced a wide variety of sizes, layouts, facilities and personalities.

Tim and I have both particularly enjoyed staying in CL sites. Prior to getting our caravan we enjoyed camping and bivvi bagging; we love just being outdoors in picturesque environments appreciating a simple life. Certificated locations fulfill this for the caravanner. Firstly, the size of the site is important; no more than five caravans are ever booked onto the site so there is a cosy, family feeling; Caravan Club sites tend to feel like mini-estates with everyone’s caravan neatly lined up in allocated pitches.

The sites each have their own individual appeal and none of the uniformity of Caravan Club sites. There are fewer rules to comply by and generally a more laid back approach to everything.

It is wrong to assume that CL sites are in remote locations with no or little facilities. CL sites can be found all over (often very close the Caravan Club sites) and many have toilets and sometimes showers.

We have loved staying in CL sites. They provide a very relaxing and welcoming atmosphere often with a beautiful view that is only shared with a few other like-minded people.
