This is so much fun! Not only did I get to sit in the front of the car, but I got some nice waves from some friendly caravanners.
Tips for receiving waves:
1. Get the driver to flash the lights at oncoming caravans to attract their attention
2. Lean forwards and wave like mad; make sure your waves are BIG actions
3. Smile when waving; who would wave to a grumpy person 
Small print: Do not worry if you don't always get a wave; some people may not see you as they are concentrating on the road (I'm sure they are not grumpy, really)
