Challenge 26 – Build an Xplore shaped sand castle

Whenever we go to the beach we love to make sandcastles but this challenge required us to make a caravan out of sand! This was not as easy as it sounds (if you think it sounds easy).

Whilst at the beach, we found a flattish spot. Ella, Grandad and I made a mound of sound, which they duly shaped into a curved cuboid - this was after our first attempt was described as a tank! The sand was drying quickly in the heat and kept crumbling but we didn’t give up.

Once we had the shape we decorated it with circular rocks for wheels, driftwood twigs for the door and flat pieces of slate for the windows, creating an impressive overall impression of a caravan.

Ella then took great care spelling out ‘Xplore’ with a pebble border to finish it off.

I bet that was the first caravan made out of sand to be built on that beach!
