#XploreMore 2014 - stop 6 - Clumber Park

This story happened on: 12/07/2014

We’re back at the Clumber CC site - the peaceful site surrounded by the many trees of Clumber Park. Yet, even though it was not a great deal of time since the last time we pitched at this site, this time it is not quite so peaceful. The whole site is basically full, kids whizz round on bicycles and the playground is never empty in daylight hours - a bit of a contrast to Woodbrough.

This is great for us kids (new friends!). The playground can entertain many at a time and we spend a good deal of our time swinging on swings, whizzing round on climby-roundabout thingys and edging down fireman’s poles.

Still, this may be our second stay at Clumber but it is still as good a site as we remember. Grassy, woody patches blot the site and we are lucky enough to have a patch by us - great for us to complete a few of the 100 challenges set by the CC (bug hunting and a good view to draw from a caravan window!).

The facilities are in tip-top condition and easy to access and the staff are lovely. It’s a shame we can only stay a night - we can’t wait to come back again.

Hi Amy,  there is a permanent orienteering course at Clumber, maps are available at the park shop. You had to follow a map as one of your challenges but I thought perhaps you could challenge your mum and dad to follow an orienteering map, they are quite different to OS maps. Have fun, Dave
