#XploreMore 2014 - site 2 - Beccles

This story happened on: 13/05/2014

Our second night in Ellie (named after one of the main characters in the film UP!) our Elddis Xplore 540 caravan was far away in the County of Norfolk - some 3.5 hours tow away.

Old-hands reading this will probably smile wryly when they read the text below and think just how 'green' we are...

Note to self: Avoid trying to pull a 7 metre caravan down unclassified farm lanes in the dark if it is only your second time towing! Frown

SatNav really can get you into some difficulties unless you are careful - a 6.5 feet wide bridge more specifically. To make things worse, we had to do a U-turn (or more accurately a 10-point turn) in the gateway to a farm.

Note to self: next time try and arrive in the area we plan to stay in BEFORE it gets dark.Embarassed

As newbies to caravanning, the last thing we needed was to arrive on site late at a night. But this is exactly what happened! Getting to grips with all of the things needed at set-up in the daylight would be enough of a challenge to someone so inexperienced!

But we did it, and settled down for the night at a reasonable time.

It had been a tiring week, and for once, I was actually glad not to be climbing into a bivvy bag or tent (our usual style), but instead into a warm, comfortable bed in our new best friend, Ellie Happy
