The Xplore Challenge Begins!

This story happened on: 13/05/2014

After what seemed like a extra long day at school, watching the clock tick away the hours, we set off to Derby Caravan Centre late afternoon on Thursday 8th May. Two very excited girls sat patiently in the back of the van as we got closer to our destination and closer to our impending challenge. On arrival we were greeted by a myriad of welcoming faces from Whale, Derby Caravan Centre, Caravan Times and, of course, Elddis and the Caravan Club.

After a quick cuppa and a selection of photo opportunities, we were given a detailed tour around our new holiday home by Wayne from Derby Caravan Club; his thorough explanation and reassuring manner settled any nerves that were left.

Our next challenge was to couple the caravan to our van. Bernie, a long-standing towing trainer linked to the Caravan Club, then spent time with us explaining how to couple and uncouple the caravan to our vehicle and how to manoeuvre confidently. Once again, there was a lot to remember and, although a little daunting, our confidence began to build gradually.

As the night drew in, we all said our farewells and headed off, caravan in tow, to our first caravan site: a CL in Woodborough.

Wonder what our first night in the Xplore will be like …
