Family in:site into Chatsworth House CC site

I understand why this site is so popular! Chatsworth is a delightful location and the Caravan Club site is well positioned. Hidden down a track off the main road, you soon escape into a world of wooded countryside. Pitches form cul-de-sacs and miniature streets around a network of roads, all bordered by hedges and trees. Ducks and pheasants wander carefree around the site comfortable in the knowledge that they'll be fed (and the children certainly enjoy that job). The wardens (all 6 of them!) are very welcoming and friendly. 

 

You could easily be forgiven for remaining on the site and enjoying the delights of the Chatsworth grounds during your stay but the location offers so much more. The Peak District is on your doorstep with plenty of activities to sample.

 

 

Make the most of the grounds with your own special key, allocated by the wardens when you arrive. The key unlocks the wooden door into the Chatsworth grounds and you certainly feel likes you're walking into a secret garden. On the other side are the vast grounds of Chatsworth House. A short walk takes you to the House and the courtyard where there are shops and places to eat. There is also an adventure playground and a farmyard. This central area is the most frequented within the grounds but there are other areas within the grounds and plenty of countryside to explore.

 

Not far from the site is Hathersage, a bustling village with a real outdoor feel. On the outskirts of Hathersage are gritstone edges (Stanage Edge being the most popular and well-known). This area is popular with walker and climbers. If not a climber, the rocks provide plenty of opportuniites to weasel and boulder.

 

Heading over to Ashbourne, you are able to embark on a National Cycle route called the Tissington Trail. The route is 27 miles to Parsley Hay and back, starting at Ashbourne. It is recommended that you begin the trail at Ashbourne since it will take you uphill on the way and downhill on the return leg. If you don't have your own bikes there is cycle hire available at Ashbourne and Parsley Hay. We hired from Peak Hire; we were given fantastic bikes and a very good service. 

We did the Tissington Trail as part of our 500 Fresh Air Miles challenge (http://www.dotrythisathome.com/journey-10-27-mile-cycle-ride/). It was our 10th journey and took us over the 100 mile marker.
