Family In:sight into Sutton-on-Sea CC site

The Lincolnshire coastline is a popular holiday destination; Skegness, Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea attract visitors throughout the year, but particularly during the holiday season. Resorts and caravan sites of varying quality are dotted along the roads, accommodating a large proportion of tourists.
The Sutton on Sea Caravan Club site is not visible from a main road but nestled amongst trees and bushes, down a lane away from the hub-bub of holiday traffic. Pitches are neatly arranged and the toilet block is the usual high CC standard.

Skegness
Skegness has a lot of appeal with children. The noisy fairground rides, the flashing lights of the numerous amusement arcades and the pull of the waves tumbling on and off the beach all offer a great day out (or more). There are plenty of places to eat but you can't beat some fish and chips when at the seaside. Skegness is a typical touristy seaside resort and can be extremely busy during peak seasons.
Skegness Natureland Seal Sanctuary
At one end of Skegness Seafront is Natureland, primarily a seal sanctuary but the home to wide range of other animals, including penguins, goats, alpaca, reptiles, fish and butterflies. Although relatively small in size, it has a lot to offer visitors and is well run. Regular feeding slots provide information about the resident seals and any young pups that are being cared for. Any animal lovers in the family will love a visit here.
Gilbraltar Point
Gibraltar Point is a stretch of coastline between Skegness and the mouth of The Wash. The nature reserve, cared for by the Lincolnshire Wildlife trust, is the home to a diverse selection of wildlife but particularly birds. Resident and migratory birds accommodate the beaches and marshes. Currently the visitor centre and cafe are not open (due to damage from the storm surge at the end of 2013) but this should not stop you visiting this impressive spot, whether to watch the birds or wander around admiring the views.
Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust
This charity runs regular workshops and events in the area. Whilst we were staying at the Sutton on Sea site we travelled to Snipe Dales wood for three consecutive days to complete a bushcraft course. We learnt about shelter building, lighting fires, purifying and sterilising water as well as whittling techniques and general information about the trees and wildlife that surrounded us. It was an amazing course, one of many run by the Trust.
