Crazy Christmas Fun at Cromer

We have just returned from one of the best family Christmases we've ever had: two pitches, two motorhomes, 6 adults, 2 children and a dog at the Cromer Seacroft Caravan Club site. What made it special? Well it was different. Escaping the 'normal' Christmas in a house added excitement to the festivities. The girls were also very excited to be spending Christmas with both sets of grandparents.
Cromer Seacroft Caravan Club site was fully booked. Motorhomes and caravans streamed in in their masses and pitches quickly filled up by Christmas Eve. The wardens there, seasoned experts with a welcoming smile and chat, skilfully managed the arrivals and departures, even offering mulled wine and mince pies to new arrivals – a tasty, warming welcome!
We arrived on the 23rd, a day before the grandparents but had little to prepare. The plan was to keep it simple and most of the food was arriving by car and other motorhome. The festivities soon began on Christmas Eve and carried on for the next couple of days. All eight of us spent the majority of time in our Elddis Autoquest 180, chatting, playing games, drinking, eating and laughing…lots! Cromer and the beach provided a change of scenery each day. We had fish and chips walking along the seafront, walked along the beach at East Runton on Christmas day and met family in Cromer on Boxing Day for the popular Boxing Day Dip which Tim and his brother took part in!
This was our first Christmas in the motorhome and at a Caravan Club site. It was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the holiday season in their caravans and motorhomes. The Cromer site has a restaurant and bar area that is open in the evenings during the winter months and there were plenty of people popping in for drinks and meals. It has entertainment each evening and offers a Christmas dinner to those that book in advance.
Christmas 2015 was special for us. We successfully managed to avoid the Christmas build up and the unnecessary commercialism, and succeeded in having a close (literally) family Christmas together. It wasn’t about the presents, the food or the drink but just simply spending time together.
