Are there any young members who love caravaning as much as we do ?

This story happened on: 10/01/2013

Hi were a young family that love the freedom of getting away from the everyday life in our caravan, Im 28 my wife 27 and my son 1&half years old. I have always been involved in rallying over the years with my parents, grandparents auntys and uncles starting with my first rally in 1984 when i was 3 weeks old with the Northants and Rutland centre this is where it all started for me. I have so so many fond memorys for me and really have to thank my parents for bringing this into my life this is why now i own my first caravan, far from new but has everything we need.

My wife at the beginning of 2012 was not warming to the idea of going away in a caravan and not understanding that she cant take her hair dryer away with her every weekend, but after long conversations of what is possible with a caravan off we went to view our first buy, she loved the idea that it had a shower but i was not to say that there was water to get before use. It didnt take her long to warm to the idea, we had now brought our first caravan.

We then booked our first rally with the Northants and rutland centre and the cards completely turned and to this day all i get is where we booking to go now and for the rest of the year.

We love taking our son to rallys he loves the evening socials and just recently a new year rally we went on he even had a microphone given to him from the band singer,Also we love to walk our chocolate lab "Odie" around countryside we would never get to see and now our own memorys begin to grow, we would love to see more young couples like ourselves out and about on rallys and club sites but all the same love the company we share now parents and great fellow members

Thank you

We've been caravanning almost 20 years now.  When we started I was 25 years old and my wife just 20.  Or first trip was aweekend away in Tenby, just 1 week before our eldest was born.

Our sons, now 19 and 17 are no longer regulars with us on our trips, but tend to travel to stop wth us for a day or so while we are away.

In the 90's we started caravanning with our young children and although our daughter was never a great fan our son loved it and although 21and at university  still shows a great interest in our trips and now camps. Our caravanning helped to encourage his love of the outdoors and he loves walking and kayaking.

Hope you have a great 2013 caravanning

We mainly go to the sites that have things for the kids to do like a pool a play area ,entertainment and especailly a nice beach the best one we have been to so far was seacroft norfolk they have all these things the beach is stunning all sand and lots rock pools so as you can imagine we was on the beach all day with the kids really enjoyed it looking forward to going there again. But this year we have booked up hillhead in Deven .Its going to be a very long drive from essex but we have booked up a nights stay at another cc site halfway first time we will be driving to Devon aslo so it will be and experience  .We have noticed that there are not many young familys like us about when we are at the cc sites but we do enjoy talking to the older couples as we learn new things also feel that the children are safe on the sites . never know we may bump into each other one day

Hello The Hackneys,  Whilst not quite as young as your good selves, I consider myself and my wife relatively young 'vanners at 38 and 36 respectively.  Our kids being 10 and 6.  We started caravanning very recently (Oct '12) as well and have quite a few trips booked for this year, including New Forest, Edinburgh and Snowdonia...  Brewsters2002, we also try to target sites with good kid facilities, although i'm sure we can make good wherever we end up.  Nice to know there are a few of us under 40 at least Winking, although not for long.  Good luck in 2013...

Great story, me and my other half are around the same age, i'm 28 and she's 29. She came from a rallying back ground where as my mom and dad simply had caravans for normal non club like holidays.

We got our first Caravan last year. It's good to see many young 'uns about!
