night stop

went away weekend in hampshire to watch a group playing was having trouble finding a campsite for one night what we did find was 30 pound a night ,we need for nothing but sleep so £30 out of question was parked in very quite side street so when we came out of show at 12oclock decided to just get our head down ,at 730 in morning some old dear of about 80 bangs on side of motorhome saying go to camp site an pay,what harm was we doing why are people so concerned with what other people do, in france you can park almost anywhere nobody takes a blind bit of notice ,why are us brits like this ,and is it elegal to sleep at side of road not in the way or disturbing anyone we all see the signs dont drive while tired, tiredness kills,was i breaking the law idont no.

As far as I am aware, since the 1960s it has been illegal to just stop overnight in your caravan or motorhome by the side of the road or in a layby- but no doubt there will be someone on CT who knows the exact situation. Many local authorities put up big notices in laybys in which presumably they have had trouble with overnighters. I agree with you that tiredness kills, but even £30 for a one night stay is usually a lot less than the cost of a ticket to a gig?
