Trip to Scotland

This story happened on: 11/03/2013

Just completed a solo semi-business trip to Scotland staying at Forfar Lochside (Brilliant site with great wardens). This 'story' will, I hope, be a warning to others who use Enterprise Car Hire. I used the Club Code to book a hire car with Enterprise in Dundee and on the face of it got a good deal for four days rental. On arrival at the rental location I was informed that the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) mentioned by the Club on this site actually carried an excess of £600 for each and every claim. To bring this excess down to £100 I needed to pay a further £10 daily. This made a reasonably priced hire into an expensive hire and I could have got a better deal with another provider. The extra cost is not my gripe it's the lack of transparency with the 'Total Cost Estimate' which I printed when I made the original booking not mentioning anything about the extra 80 per cent charge I was going to be hit with when I arrived to collect the vehicle. To add to my grievance I am now trying to get my £200 deposit back which Enterprise tells me was returned when the car had been checked on my return (05 03 2013 and my credit card company which says no such payment has been made; today 11.03.2013). Great, more hassle and I'm back to work tomorrow. I for one will not be using this rental company. (PS the car wasn't clean on collection and the drivers side front tyre was 4psi out.)

To update my earlier post concerning Enterprise Car Hire the slow return of the hire deposit was entirely the fault of my bank and NOT Enterprise, so I unreservedly withdraw that criticism. I also have to give a big thumbs up to the Enterprise complaints procedure which was prompt and very well managed.
