North East Flooding

This story happened on: 03/07/2012

Well, this is story of being prepared and how glad we are that we had prepared. We joined Mayday breakdown cover in April this year when our cover was due for renewal. What a godsend they are. We had been staying at the Whitley Bay site when we got caught out on the road with the car when the Newcastle local area was flooded on Thursday 28th June. We were struggling through deep water and trying to get back to site. We were very close, about 300yds away when some complete moron in a 4x4 travelling in the opposite direction totally swamped our car and all the cars behind us. The car limped into the site and eventually gave up the fight in the late night arrivals area. The Whitley Bay wardens were marvellous and have our sincere thanks. The services were all understandably busy and so we opted to wait until Sunday to be recovered home. It was all made so remarkably easy by the Mayday crew and our massive thanks also extend to them. I have no problems in recommending Mayday cover to anyone out there and we intend to make sure that we renew ours every year from now on. As I write this we still don't know if our Skoda Superb is a write off or not. I hope not, as it tows our van beautifully.
